Thai beach spikers claim silver in Asian Championship

Thailand's Asian Beach Games winners Tanarattha Udomchawee/Varapatsorn Radarong took home silver medal in the Asian Beach Volleyball Championship in Jinjiang, China after going down in straight sets 21-23 13-21 to Australians Louise Bawden/Taliqua Clancy in the Sunday's final showdown.

It was the Thai duo’s second silver in the Asian meet. Last year in Wuhan, China, Tanarattha/Varapatsorn went down to Chinese Ma Yuanyuan/Yue Yuan in straight sets in the final clash to claim their silver. En route to the Sunday’s final, the Thais brushed off Chinese Wang Fan/Yue Yuan 21-19 23-21 in the quarter-finals before thrashing Japanese Takemi Nishibori/Sayaka Mizoe 21-18 21-18 in the semi-finals. The Thai duo are due to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport Monday at 5.40pm.
