Suthep threatens to 'rob' rice from govt's stockpile to sell for farmers

Suthep Thaugsuban, the chief of the People's Democratic Reform Committee, said Thursday that he may lead protesters to take 18 million tonnes of rice from the government's stockpiles to sell to help farmers.

Suthep said he felt sorry for farmers who have not been paid for their rice sold to the government under the rice-pledging scheme.

Suthep said he would like rice traders to brainstorm how to raise money fast from the sale of 18 million tonnnes of rice. He would like the people to inform him where the rice was being kept and he would lead protesters to take the rice for the traders to sell.

He added that he would give all the donations he would raise in the next march to farmers so that they would have money for protesting against the government.
