Malaysian authorities on Tuesday identified one of two passengers who were traveling with stolen passports on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 as Pouria Nour Mohammad Mehrdad.
He is a 19-year-old Iranian but he is not likely affiliated with any terror group, officials said.
"We have been checking his background. We have also checked him with other police organizations of his profile and we believe that he is not likely to be a member of any terrorist group and we believe he is trying to migrate to Germany," said Malaysian Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar.
Reports said Mehrdad planned to live with his mother in Frankfurt.
