Starbucks reports record quarter as Asia, China, boost numbers
Washington - Global coffee giant Starbucks Corp Thursday reported record revenues of 3.8 billion dollars in the quarter to the end of December, an 11-per-cent increase over a year earlier.
Profits grew 13 per cent to 432.2 million dollars in the quarter, the first of the US financial year.
Howard Schultz, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said expansion moves in China and Asia Pacific had contributed to the record results.
"Starbucks has never been better positioned to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves around the world and I have never been more optimistic about our future," he said.
Starbucks opened a net of 212 stores globally, and started its first three stores in India.//DPA
