A Thai delegation led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Permanent Secretary Sihasak Phuangketkeow has visited Laos to clarify the political situation in Thailand following the military coup which was staged on May 22.

Sihasak met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Thongloun Sisoulith in Vientiane on Monday to explain and build understanding regarding the status of Thai politics.
He also explained to Mr Thongloun the three-stage plan set out by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), which it hopes will return democracy to Thailand.
He said Thailand will focus on political reform and hopefully the general election can take place in a year but the nation will continue as normal with its obligations to foreign countries.
