Residents of upper northeastern provinces were warned to brace themselves for a thunderstorm Friday and Saturday.
The Meteorological Department issued the warning at 4 pm Thursday.
The department said the thunderstorm would be unleashed by the influence of the low-pressure ridge that covers upper Thailand, which will be clashed with the moderate high pressure expected to reach the South China Sea and northeastern Thailand Thursday.
It said a thunderstorm would hit Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen and Roi Et on Friday and Saturday. And the lower North, the eastern Central and the East would be hit by a thunderstorm on Saturday and Sunday.
The department said the easterly winds across the Gulf of Thailand and the South will grow stronger from Saturday to Monday and will bring rains and high waves.
