Rangers bombed in pickup truck
Four paramilitary rangers were injured when suspected insurgents detonated a bomb near the Joh Irong-Pa Phai railway in Narathiwat's Joh Irong district Wednesday.
The homemade bomb exploded around 9am while a six-strong squad from Ranger Unit 4502 on a pickup truck, heading to the 45th regiment in Ra Ngae district, passed a local bridge. Insurgents hidden in a roadside rubber plantation detonated the device.
Security officers inspecting the bomb scene managed to disarm another bomb buried in a 20kg fire extinguisher cylinder. They believe the insurgents aimed to attack officials arriving to investigate the first blast.
