Junta chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha Friday warned university students not to harm their freshmen during initiation activities.
He said the activities "must conform to the rules and regulations and must not cause harm to them. It must not involve forcing them to do activities".
"Universities are not military academies. Even the military must change such a tradition," Prayuth said during his weekly TV programme.
He said also warned senior students against forcing their freshmen to drink or use drug "otherwise, they will be punished".
