Pongsapat can lawfully return to police force
The Pheu Thai Party leader explained Thursday that according to certain civil service and election laws failed Bangkok governor candidate Pol General Pongsapat Pongcharoen could return to the police force.
Party leader Jarupong Ruangsuwan said that these laws upheld the Constitution, and besides, it was only fair that government officers be at the top of their position before retirement. Hence, he said, government officers who stepped down to run in elections should be allowed to return if they fail.
Police commission specialist Pol General Ajiravid Subarnbhesajt said he believed Pongsapat was mature enough to make the right choice, especially since he knows the society is watching him. However, he said, the police commission could not stop him from returning to the force because the law allows it.
