Police tighten up on public transport vans

With the crackdown on illegal public transport vans at Bangkok's Victory Monument area now in effect, Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Pol Maj-General Chanthawit Ramasut on Monday warned that violators would face up to five years in prison and/or a fine of Bt20,000 to Bt100,000.

Chanthawit said that public transport vans covering no more than 300 kilometres must be less than 10 years old, have seatbelts for all seats and be equipped with tools required by the Land Transport Department.
