New plan for Yangon transportation
A medium and long term plan for public transportation for residents in the Yangon area will be carried out in line with the recently completed joint study between the city planners and representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The joint study took 20 months to complete and will serve as the master plan for the development of public transportation that includes bus and rail lines entering and leaving Yangon, Zeya Aung, the Minister of Railways Transports, told the Upper House Assembly.
Yangon region government and JICA will cooperate to upgrade passenger bus lines including Yangon circular train and public transport system. The regional government made first priority in their plan to implement near the hub of economic zones, industrial zones, offices, schools and markets for the passengers to arrive in time, the minister said.
