New Year holiday may last 5 days
The Tourism Ministry will ask the Cabinet to extend the New Year holiday to five days, by including Monday, December 30.
Deputy Prime Minister Kitiratt Na-Ranong said on Wednesday that the longer holiday would help boost travel and tourism spending within the country and would be in line with the Tourism Ministry's target of Bt2 trillion in tourism revenue by 2015.
Arrivals have jumped 23 per cent on year to 19.6 million so far this year. The ministry expects full-year growth of 20 per cent to more than 26 million.
