The Hague - Malaysian officials handed over the flight recorders from flight MH17 to Dutch authorities late Tuesday at the Kiev airport, the Netherlands Foreign Ministry says.

The data and cockpit voice recorders, which were recovered by pro-Russian separatists from the wreckage of the downed Malaysian Airlines plane in eastern Ukraine, had been turned over earlier Tuesday to Malaysian officials, after long delays by the rebels.

The Netherlands, where most of the 298 people who died in last week's disaster were from, expects to have the so-called black boxes analysed by British experts at a laboratory in Farnborough in southern England.
