Junta chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha said Friday night that the National Council for Peace and Order would also try to stimulate economic growth to 2 per cent this year after the central bank projected growth of only 1.5 per cent.

Speaking during his weekly TV programme, Prayuth said the junta would have state-owned banks, such as the Government Savings Bank, the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives and SMEs Bank, provide loans for low-income earners to invest in projects.
