Mission to suppress dengue fever
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has instructed the Public Health Ministry to strengthen its efforts in tackling dengue fever.
Public Health Minister Pradit Sintawanarong said while measures are enforced to eradicate mosquitos, other integrated measures are necessary including the education of the cause and treatment in areas with high infection rates.
"We have exercised all the measures, but these will be strengthened," he said.
The number of infection cases in Thailand has tripled to about 90,000. It was twice higher than the five-year peak in 2010. Infection rate in other countries in the region is also on the rise.
