MH370: Inspection of flaperon to begin on Wednesday
PETALING JAYA: Inspection of the suspected MH370 debris found on Reunion Island will begin on Wednesday, the Transport Ministry said.
"Accredited representatives from Malaysia, the USA, China, France and Boeing will take part in the verification of the flaperon in Toulouse on Wednesday," minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai in a statement on Sunday.
He added that the debris, which had been found at the western end of the Indian Ocean earlier this week arrived in Paris Saturday and had been transported by road to Toulouse.
Liow said that Malaysia’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) was "reaching out" to aviation authorities in territories near Reunion Island.
"This is to allow the expert(s) to conduct more substantive analysis should there be more debris coming on to land, providing us more clues to the missing aircraft," he said.
He added that the flaperon had been confirmed by French, US, Malaysian and Boeing authorities as a Boeing 777 aircraft part.
In related news, a Sky News report said that a plane door may have been found on Reunion Island on Sunday.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared on March 8 over the Indian Ocean with 239 on board.
