Lawyers' association asks Constitutional Court to order protesters to stop

The chairman of the Thai Lawyers Assoication Friday asked the Constitutional Court to order the People's Democratic Reform Committee to stop its protests.

In a petition submitted to the court, Narinpong Jinaphak, the association chairman, also asked the court to dissolve the Democrat Party and ban its executives from politics for five years.

Narinpong alleged that the PDRC led by former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban was violating Article 68 of the Constitution by seeking ruling power through unconstitutional ways.

The Law Society of Thailand has announced that the association has nothing to do with the Law Society of Thailand, which is a the professional council overseeing professional ethics of Thai lawyers.
