Hunger Games triumphs at People's Choice Awards

Los Angeles - The film industry has yet to choose its favourites at the Oscars and Golden Globes, but on Wednesday night, the people had their say, and the winner was The Hunger Games.

The dystopian blockbuster won five categories, including favourite movie, favourite action movie and favourite movie franchise.

Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Hunger Games heroine KatnissEverdeen, was named best actress and "face of heroism" and won as well for best screen chemistry with Josh Hutcherson and LiamHemsworth.

Katy Perry was nearly as dominant in the music categories, in which she was named favourite female pop star and artist. Her video for Part of Me also won.

In the television categories, The Big Bang Theory was named favourite comedy while Grey’s Anatomy was the favourite drama.//DPA
