Harry Potter author reveals details of new book

Los Angeles - Harry Potter author JK Rowling announced details Thursday of her new book to be released in mid-September.

In a posting on her website the bestselling author said her first novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy, would focus on the social and political conflicts that divide the seemingly idyllic English town of Pagford.

Described as "blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising," the book will focus on the conflict unleashed when a respected member of the local council dies unexpectedly.

"Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils ... Pagford is not what it first seems," the announcement said.//DPA
