Human Rights Watch Friday expressed concern that the human rights situation in Thailand would deteriorate after junta chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha has been elected as the prime minister.

Holding dual posts of junta chief and prime minister, Prayuth could wield broad power without accountability, the HRW warned.
It said the National Legislative Assembly, which was appointed by Prayuth, would definitely work as a rubber stamp for the interim government.
