HK retail rents 40 times higher than Thailand's
Hong Kong is the world's most expensive city for global retailers and is 40 times more expensive than Bangkok, according to the latest research from global property advisor CBRE. This is despite an increase in retail rents in Bangkok.
"Rental rates in Bangkok increased in the best shopping malls, especially in the downtown area," said Jariya Thumtrongkitkul, head of Retail Services at CBRE Thailand.
Hong Kong, at Bt124,650 per sqm per month, tops the rankings by a substantial margin. In contrast, at Bt3,100, the monthly rent in Bangkok rose 3.7 per cent in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.
