Foreign Ministry publishes Preah Vihear pamphlet
In a bid to chill the simmering controversy over the disputed border area around Cambodia's Preah Vihear temple, the Foreign Ministry is distributing the pamphlet, "50 Years, 50 Questions and Answers Over the Preah Vihear Issue" to the public through state agencies and educational institutions.
Foreign Ministry deputy permanent secretary Nattawut Pothisaro said Monday that the booklet can also be downloaded from www.mfa.go.th/phraviharn.
Nattawut, who is also a spokesman for the Phreah Vihear working group, said his team would set out to campaign for better understanding of the issue among residents in the ThaiCambodian border provinces.
He dismissed opposition comments that the Foreign Ministry has failed to protest against Cambodians building houses in the disputed zone, adding that the ministry issued a protest on November 23 last year.
