Election and talks be held to solve political conflicts : Thongthong

An election is not the only way to settle the ongoing political conflicts as all parties concerned should hold peaceful talks first to find social contract on country's reform, said Thongthong Chandrangsu, permanent secretary for the PM’s Office.

He said the statement was agreed upon in a meeting of permanent secretaries of the ministries Wednesday. Thongthong chaired the meeting.

The meeting was held at Civil Service Commission's Nonthaburi branch as their usual meeting at CSC headquarters is opposite the Government House where anti-government protesters are rallying.

The meeting also agreed that the democratic system with the King being the head of state is suitable system of Thailand and that all civil servants should adopt HM the King's speeches as their guidelines as well as commit to the country's benefits and righteousness.
