EC probes Pongsapat's qulifications
Election officials Wednesday were investigating an allegation that Police General Pongsapat Pongcharoen, a key candidate contesting the March 3 gubernatorial election, failed to vote in a previous election, which would make him disqualified.
Veera Yipae, director of the Election Commission's Bangkok office, said the permanent secretary of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration - in her capacity as the city's local election director - was checking the qualifications of all the 25 candidates. She has until Friday to announce whether all of them are qualified to contest.
