Clash death toll rises to 2

An anti-government protester died Friday from a gunshot wound received the previous day during clashes with police, raising the death toll to two, according to the Public Health Ministry.

Wasu Suchanthabut, 30, was shot in the chest as protesters tried to storm the Thai-Japanese Stadium where election preparations were taking place. He died at 3.45am.

According to Colonel Peerapol Pokpong, director of the Phra Mongkut Army Hospital, the condition of Phet Chusrikwan, the taxi driver who was hit in the head by protesters, improved. There is no problem with his brain, he said.

A number of 153 are injured from the clash on Thursday. Of total, 38 are still hospitalised and 36 are in serious condition.
