Chon Buri province, with Pattaya as the biggest jewel, target tourism revenue of Bt100 billlion this year.
According to Tourism Authority of Thailand, the province welcomed 9 million visitors in 2012, who spent Bt94 billion. The number of tourist arrivals in 2012 increased by 8.10 per cent from 2011.
Of total, 2.89 million were Thais. Among 6.14 million foreign visitors, Russians ranked No. 1, accounting for 2.2 million. The number of Chinese tourists topped 792,022, followed by 404,420 Germans.
In the year, the number of tourists from Brunei shot up by 700 per cent and that of Myanmar by 62 per cent. The number of tourists from Eastern Europe also rose by 70 per cent.
Their average daily spending was Bt3,156.
