China to buy Thai agri products
China has agreed to place orders for 1.2 million of white rice from Thailand, along with 300,000 tonnes of tapioca and 200,000 tonnes of para rubber, said Commerce Minister Niwatthumrong Boonsongpaisan.
Returning from China, the minister said that the contracts would be signed this month.
He added that China also expressed interest in investing in processing plants for tapioca and para rubber in Thailand. It was also persuaded to invest in a processing plant for palm oil.
Niwatthumrong is scheduled to fly to Russia next week particularly to promote Thailand’s agricultural products.
He said more efforts are necessary to promote Thai products which are of high quality.
