China inflation drops to 1.8% year-on-year in April: govt

BEIJING - China's annual inflation fell sharply to 1.8 per cent in April, official data showed Friday, down from 2.4 per cent in March.

The country’s consumer price index -- a main gauge of inflation - increased by 2.2 per cent in the first four months of the year from the same period in 2013, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a statement.
