Charupong says coalition partners still support Pheu Thai

Interior Minister and Pheu Thai Party leader Charupong Ruangsuwan said Sunday night that all coalition partners resolved to continue working with the Pheu Thai although opposition Democrat MPs have resigned en massed.

Charupong said the coalition parties would like to call on demonstrators to rally peacefully Monday and the coalition leaders would monitor the protest closely.

He said at a press conference following a 2-hour meeting with other coalition parties that the coalition parties supported the points announced by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Sunday.

Protesters were also urged to maintain peaceful demonstration, as police would have only batons and shields, he said.

Charupong noted that though the Democrats tried to introduce a political void, the House is still in shape with other MPs acting as the Opposition.

Banharn Silapa-archa, a leader of Chat Thai Pattana Party, said that it is time for all to compromise or the nation will have no future. The troubles now are graver than in any periods, but he still believes that they can be solved through a negotiation.
