The Cabinet Monday extended the enforcement of the Internal Security Act in Bangkok and nearby provinces by 61 days.
Deputy Government Spokeswoman Sunisa Lertpakawat said the ISA enforcement is due to expire on April 30 and the extension will last from May 1 to June 30.
She said the Cabinet approved the request of the Centre for Administration of Peace and Order to extend the ISA enforcement. The CAPO reasoned that there were still efforts to incite people to cause disturbances and public hardship.
The ISA is being enforced in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan’s Bangpli district and Pathum Thani’s Latlumkaew district.
