London - Prince Harry and his girlfriend of two years Cressida Bonas have broken up, British media reports said Wednesday.
The split was "very much an amicable one" an anonymous friend told the Daily Mail newspaper, denying reports that the 29-year-old prince had found Cressida, 25, "too needy" of late.
"Cressida has decided she wants to focus on her career and Harry is really keen that she is allowed to get on with her life," the friend added.
The British press have long been speculating about an engagement between the pair, rumours which were stoked last month when Cressida attended her first official event with army officer Harry.
The couple met in 2012, after being introduced by Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, who is also a friend of Cressida.
Cressida, born to an aristocratic family, graduated last year from a dance course at a London conservatoire but was previously reported to have given up the idea of a career as a dancer as it was not considered seemly enough for a potential royal.
She was instead reported to have taken a job at a marketing firm.
