Thai central bank's governor Friday advised the caretaker government to raise funds by speeding up its sale of rice from the state's stockpiles in stead of borrowing in a bid to pay farmers taking part in its rice-pledging scheme.

Prasarn Trairatvorakul, governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT), said the pledging scheme created problem for farmers because they are not being paid and they suffered badly due to have no savings.
"The government should to sell rice from the stockpiles as soon as possible...even the sale of rice will make losses," said Prasarn.
