Berlin - Myanmar Nobel Peace Prize winner and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi is to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin Thursday.
During her trip to Germany, Suu Kyi, 68, will also meet President Joachim Gauck and be awarded the International Willy Brandt Prize, which is handed out to people or institutions promoting international understanding between people.
Launched in 2011 in honour of former German chancellor Willy Brandt, previous winners include Berlin-based conductor Daniel Barenboim and Egyptian author Lailia Soliman.
Gauck met Suu Kyi during a visit to Burma in February.
Suu Kyi, who some analysts believe will run for Myanmar president next year, was held under house arrest by the military dictatorship for more than ten years.
