Army to retain 176 security checkpoints in Bangkok

The Army announced Wednesday that it will retain all 176 security checkpoints in Bangkok although the state of emergency has been lifted.

The government replaced the state of emergency with the enforcement of the Internal Security Act Wednesday.

First Army Division Commander Maj Gen Wara Boonyasit said the number of security checkpoints in Bangkok would not be reduced but troops might tighten their operations in line with the changed situation.
