San Francisco - Apple released an update Monday to the iOS7 mobile operating system it launched in September, saying it offered users more stability, improved design and an upgrade to its Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

Called iOS7.1 the mobile software update includes enhancements to Siri, the voice enabled interface, an improved calendar, a cleaner interface and improved responsiveness and performance for iPhone 4 users.

The software update is also compatible with CarPlay, Apple's new initiative to integrate iPhone features directly into cars. Apple announced the CarPlay last week, but it is not expected to appear in vehicle still later in the year.
