Air search called off for missing plane

Sydney - The airborne search for surface wreckage of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane is over, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said Monday.

"It is highly unlikely that we will find any debris on the ocean surface," he said, noting that the search for the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 was into its 52nd day.

"None of our efforts have found any wreckage," the prime minister said.

The underwater search for flight MH370 would continue.
