3,436 workers laid off during past six months
The government's policy to raise the minimum daily wage to Bt300 has resulted in the layoffs of at least 3,436 workers during the past six months, according to official statistics.
The policy first took effect in seven big provinces including Bangkok last April. Due to this policy, 70 other provinces also saw the minimum wage rising by about 40 per cent.
Then, starting from January 1 this year, the minimum daily wage of Bt300 has taken effect across the country.
