Suthep denies U-turning on BBC banking fraud

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban on Thursday made a strong rebuttal, denying his about-turn on the banking fraud in 1996 involving Indian suspect Rakesh Saxena.

Suthep was responding in the House to a motion lodged by Pheu Thai MP Jatuporn Prompan.

"I did my job as the then opposition member in grilling the Chat Thai-led coalition government by marshalling factual evidence on the banking fraud," he said.

He insisted if his censure took place at the present, then it might lead to the dissolution of the then main coalition party. But the grilling happened before the formation of the Election Commission, he said.
