The Cabinet Thursday decided to enhance the mandate of each deputy prime minister to authorise compensation payments and relief supplies - from Bt100 million to Bt900 million - in a bid to speed up the disbursement process.

"The enhanced mandate will cover the disbursements related to the annual budget, the midyear budget and the contingency advanced payments, so the relief can reach the people in a speedy manner," government deputy spokesman Watchara Kannikar said.
