The Election Commission would strictly interpret the relevant laws when considering whether to disqualify MPs for unconstitutional shareholdings, EC member Sodsri Satayathum said Monday.

She said that the subcommittee investigating the matter was divided as to whether the EC should disqualify the MPs. A team of legal advisers consisting of academics and constitution writers was appointed to offer advice to the subcommittee.

Sodsri said she thought the panel should base its decision on legal advice from the experts' team.
