Suthep says southern violence will be ended in 3 years
Deputy Prime Minister
Suthep Thaugsuban announced that the government will end the insurgency in the southern border provinces in three years.
He made the announcement to a group of Narathiwat people who visited him at the Government House.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the Narathiwat people, Suthep said he was confident that he would be able to achieve the goal.
He said the insurgency would die down because the government would launch development projects in the provinces to help local people so the insurgents would eventually abandon their cause.
He said the progress of the developments would be seen just after the first year.
Suthep said the government would never hold talk with the insurgent groups.
