Former army chief Sonthi denies planning to enter politics

Former Army chief Gen Sonthi Boonyaratglin Saturday denied that he planned to enter politics as a deputy leader of a new political party.

Sonthi said he was surprised by reports that he would be a deputy leader of a new party to be set up with former Air Force chief ACM Chalit Phukphaksuk being its leader.

"I don't know who gave such information. I've never heard about it. So far, I have never been approached by anyone to join any party. I am not ready to enter politics now," Sonthi said.
