4 paramilitary troopers killed in Pattani bomb attack



Pattani - Insurgents detonated a homemade bomb to ambush a patrol unit of paramilitary troopers Thursday afternoon, killing four troopers.

The attack happened at3 pm on the Ban Khokwua - Ban Bua Naelala Road in Ban Bua Naelala vilage in Tambon Plonghoy of Kapho district.

The four victims were identified as Sgt Chairit Meekaew, 50, Private 1st Class Surapong Jampa, 21, Pvt Preecha Suwanaksorn, 22 and Pvt Kraisin Inphet, 22.

They were attacked while returning to their base in a pick-up truck.

Police said insurgents used a wired remote to detonate the bomb when the truck arrived at the spot. The truck was badly damaged.
