4.1 million people in 39 provinces affected by drought: official
Drought has so far affected 4.1 million people in 12,517 villages in 39 provinces so far, a senior Interior Ministry official said Monday.
Anucha Mokhawes, director-general of the Civil Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, said the drought-hit provinces are 14 northern provinces, 12 northeastern provinces, 3 central provinces, 6 northeastern provinces, and 4 southern provinces.
So, far the department has distributed 135.49 million litres of affected people and each provincial administration will be able to use an emergency fund of Bt50 million to help the people.
