Mercury drops to 2C in North



Cold spell hit many parts of Thailand will several areas in the North see mercury drop to 2 to 5 Celsius degree following the extension of intense high pressure ridge from China to cover Thailand the Gulf, the Meteorological Department announced.

The department said the cold spell will remain until Thursday.

In its daily forecast for 6 am Monday to 6 am Tuesday, issued at 4 am, the department predicts that the lowest temperature in the North would range from 2to 5 C degree following a drop of temperature by 1 to 3 degree. Frost would also happen.

The lowest temperature in the Northeast would range from 2 to 7 C degree.

The department said the Central Region would see the lowest temperature between 13 to 15 C degree following a drop of temperature by 1 degree.

The lowest temperature for the East would be around 13 to 15 C degree.

The East Coast of the South would see the lowest temperature between 17 to 23 degree and West coast between 19 to 21 degree.

The lowest temperature in Bangkok would be 14-16 C degree.
