Seven air-conditioned buses powered by NGV gas were damaged in a fire early Tuesday, police said.

The buses belong to a private firm, Saha Transport which has received a concession to operate two routes in Bangkok.

Natthanan Pitithansawat, 48, the manager of the firm, told police that there was an explosion inside the engine compartment of one of the bus parked inside the firm's garage in Bang Khunthien district at 3 am.

The bus caught fire following the explosion and the blaze quickly spread to six other buses under repair inside the garage.

No one was injured.

The Nation
