New Year road accident death toll climbs to 300
The death toll of road accidents in the first five days of the seven dangerous New Year holidays has reached 300, the Road Safety Centre announced Sunday.
Anucha Mokkhawes, director-general of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department and secretary of the Road Safety Centre, said 3,161 road accidents happened from December 30 to Saturday, kiling 300 people and injuring 3,396 others.
On Saturday alone, 368 accidents occurred, killing 22 people and injuring 400 others.
