Asus to be boosted by innovation

Taiwan-based AsusTek Computer Inc, the world's sixth largest PC brand, sets its targeted total sale to achieve US$12 billion in the end of this year by focus on innovative and design products.

The company has recorded total sale US$10.1 billion in the end of last year, the company's marketing director Cecilia Huang Fu said at press conference last week.

She added that 74.7 per cent of its total sale from notebook, EeePC notebooks, and desktop, as the next 24.2 per cent from components mother board, LCD, and display, as the rest 1.1 per cent from other products.

Meanwhile, AsusTek Computer (Thailand) Co Ltd expects total sale Bt7 billion in this year or up 55.55 per cent from its total sale Bt4.5 billion in last year that thank to the demand in PC market especially notebook rising and the company's products have more model to serve with the customer's demand, AsusTek Computer (Thailand) Co Ltd's managing director Pornthep Watchara-Amnouy said.

He added that the company expects to be market leader in the year 2013 by targets market share growth double from 15 per cent now to be 30 per cent in the year 2013.

The company now ranked the third in notebook market following Acer, who enjoys with market share about 30 per cent, and HP who enjoy with market share about 16-17 per cent.

Notebook market now recorded total market average 2 million units. The market has signed to increase average 15 per cent a year that expect to be 2.3 million units in the end of this year and will be nearly 3 million in the year 2013.

To drive its sale achieve the target to be No 1 in Thailand notebook market, the company will expand its distribution channel from 400 outlets to be 600 outlets in the year 2013. The company also focus on after sale service by speed up to support with the customer demand by reduce the time to maintenance and may be increase its service centre in the next time.

At present, the company has 30 service centre in nationwide.

The company also launches the new series to support with all of the market segment by offer the new model price range between lower than Bt20,000 per unit and over than Bt25,000 per unit.

Currently, 40 per cent of its total sale from notebook at price lower than Bt20,000 per unit, the next 40 per cent from notebook at price between Bt20,000 and Bt25,000 per unit, as the rest 20 per cent from notebook at price over than Bt20,000 per unit.

In the second half of this year, the company also plans to launch four new models to cover with all of market segment included N-Series, E-transformer, E-slider, and U21. They are apart to boost its sale achieve the target in the end of this year.

Especially N-Series, AsusTek Computer Inc introduces N-series that exterior design by Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou. This also will launch in Thailand market on July, which will import to Thailand market only 1,000 units.

For E-transformer, the company has launch in Thailand market on Saturday (July 2). The company target total sale from E-transformer series about 1,000 units in this year. This is apart of 2 million units in worldwide market.

As the next two, E-slider, and U21 will launch in the last quarter of this year, he said.
