Four-day Mobile Expo targets up to Bt1.4 bn sales
The four-day "Thailand Mobile Expo 2011 Hi-End", which kicks off today, will see consumers spending Bt1.3 billion to Bt1.4 billion on the hottest gadgets, including tablet computers.
Telecom operators and mobile-phone and tablet vendors are showcasing their newest devices at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.
Opas Cherpunt, chief executive of fair organiser M Vision, said yesterday that the highlights of the fair were the latest high-end smart phones, including the HTC Sensation, LG Optimus 3D, Samsung Galaxy SII and Sony Ericsson Xperia.
"The average price of smart phones has dropped to about Bt18,000-Bt20,000 from the recent Bt25,000," he said.
More than 30 smart-phone vendors have joined this event, which expects to draw about 600,000 visitors throughout the four days.
Nation International Edutainment (NINE) is launching NED Comics as its first cartoon application for Android tablets. NINE is joining hands with Samsung to allow customers who buy a 5-inch Samsung Galaxy S WiFi TME Hi-End to receive the comics. With NED Comics, users will enjoy reading eight books of famous Thai cartoons called "Demonic Corey" free of charge.
Nation Broadcasting Corporation is featuring its news service that allows Advanced Info Service (AIS) customers to download and receive Super News free for three months. After that, they will be charged Bt19 per month.
Nation Super News is a short news service from Nation Multimedia Group on the Android, BlackBerry, iPhone and Windows 7 platforms that pools news messages from 235 reporters and delivers them to mobile-phone users instantly.
