'Win an Island' contest for Intel customers
Intel Microelectronics (Thailand) is launching a contest called "Win an Island" to promote its secondgeneration Intel Core processors.
"I think this campaign will build awareness and encourage our customers to buy a 2G Intel Core processor. It also will be a digital marketing campaign that will allow the sharing of experiences and create brand relevancy for customers," Dudchaneeporn Pruckwattananon, marketing programme manager, said yesterday. The campaign will run from July 1 to August 31 in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand. The contest will be open to buyers of a desktop personal computer with a 2G Intel Core i5 or i7 processor or a boxed 2G Intel Core i5 or i7, she said. The prizes are a 28day holiday for four people on exclusive Joyo Island in Indonesia worth about Bt900,000 for the regional winner, and a sevenday vacation worth Bt250,000 for the winner from each country. To enter the contest, eligible customers can visit the website www.intel.com/island to register and answer the question "Why do you deserve to win an island giveaway" in 25 words. The website includes a game for Intel customers. Intel is also running socialmedia campaigns such as "Intel Visual Life: The Satorialist", which has logged more than 700,000 hits and has been linked with other websites around the globe.Thailand has more than 20 million Internet users, with 9 million subscribing to Facebook, and 69 million mobilephone users, with 18 million accessing the Internet. Most mobile Internet surfers use social networks. At least 41 per cent of Thais say an online presence significantly increases their interest in a brand and 69 per cent say the Internet is their first stop when looking for information.
